You may be wondering for yourself how to become a full time blogger. It sounds like an impossible goal, but in this blog post, we will share how you can do just that! We will explore how blogging has changed over the years and how it is now easier than ever before to work from home and make a living.
There are many reasons why people want to become a blogger, here are some of the most common ones:
- You are a stay-at-home parent who wants to earn a full-time income while taking care of your kids.
- You want to quit your 9-5 job and become your own boss.
- You are passionate about a certain niche, hobby or topic and would love to learn other people more about it.
- You just want to try to start a blog and and see what it’s like because it’s affordable and easy to get started.
Everyone has different reasons why they’d like to start a blog.
Just a few years ago, I didn’t know people could make full time blog income from home. I had no idea how to become a blogger or how to make money online.
Now, I’ve been earning a full-time living from blogging for almost a year at the same time as I’m a stay-at-home mom and running my own VA business. I can’t believe how much my life has changed since I started blogging!
What does it take to be a blogger?
To become a full-time blogger you need to be willing to invest a little bit.
Starting a blog to make money requires that you are willing to learn and learn and learn.
Surprisingly, you don’t need to have great computer skills to make a full-time income as a blogger. But you DO need to be dedicated and stubborn enough to make the computers do what you want them to do. You need to be a self-starter and a problem solver. You need to be unafraid of trial and error and you need to be willing to not give up when you run into obstacles and challenges.
You also need to be a decent writer. If you prefer not to write, you can hire others to write content for your blog.
Bloggers are good at promoting their blog and content. Good marketing skills are important if you plan to sell products or make money blogging.
You also need to understand your audience, their fears, and what motivates them.
And lastly, before you begin, you should know that blogging is hard work. There are no “overnight successes” out there. But you have nothing to lose. Starting a blog for money is one of the least risky “businesses” you can start.
I believe that with hard work, everyone can start and grow a successful, full time income blog.
How much does it cost to start a blog?
You need to be willing to invest a little bit. But don’t worry it doesn’t have to be a large investment. It’s actually very cheap to start a blog – about 4$/month for a blog host, and then you can buy a blog theme but that’s totally optional because there are a lot of great free themes out there.
The cost of starting a blog, compared to the cost of setting up a regular business is very small.
I highly suggest though that you consider purchasing some good blogging courses in the first year because you want to treat this like a job you are training for.
How to become a full time blogger
So, now you might wonder how to make full time income blogging?
How to choose a niche for your blog?
Deciding what you want to blog about is the hardest part because it’s the first thing you have to do before starting your blog.
When picking a blogging niche, I recommend choosing a topic you’re passionate about. This is the safest way to keep blogging fun and not feel like a chore.
How to choose a domain name for your blog
Many people overthink and get stuck on this step. My advice is to keep your blog name simple.
Your domain name is the URL for your website. For example, my domain name is businesswomanonline.com.
Try to use .com for your domain name and avoid using hyphens in your name. Short names are often easier to remember than long or descriptive names.
When it comes to branding you want to make sure a majority of your social media channels are having the same handles. I like using name checker to make this process easy.
How to choose a host for your blog
I didn’t do ANY real research on hosting companies before I started my blog – I just started on the host that the first tutorial I ran into suggested and I regretted that later.
I recommend starting your blog at NameCheap, where I still have small sites hosted to this day. (For larger websites, I recommend moving over to a host like Bigscoots. but, this comes later on in your blogging journey.
How to choose a theme for your blog
Now that you’ve started your blog, it’s time to make it beautiful.
If you want to become a blogger and make money, I recommend choosing a WordPress theme for your blog. Pick a theme you are okay starting with and know that it can always be changed in the future. Two great WordPress themes are Kadence and Astra.
Make sure that the theme you are choosing has good mobile responsiveness.
How to write your first blog post
Now that you have created a pretty blog it’s time to write your first blog post.
I recommend you to install Yoast SEO for some help with SEO and Grammarly to correct typos and grammar mistakes.
When writing your blog posts, you want to make sure your content is directed towards your target audience. Your blog posts should provide value, encourage your reader, inspire or motivate your reader, or learn your reader learn how to do something.
Blog posts that contain at least one photo usually receive more engagement than articles that contain no photos. You can take your own photos or use free stock photo sites like Canva to find quality photos. I love to use Canva Pro to make beautiful graphics and have access to more photos and fonts.
When you’ve learned how to write a good blog post you just have to keep posting consistently.

WooCommerce is the platform I use to sell my own digital products.
